Add or change files after you go live

Upload new slides and readings, change a file's category, and update what students see.

Your tutor answers from the files in your course. Add a file, and students get answers from it after you update.

  1. Open your course from the Courses tab, then click Files.
  2. On the right module, click Upload file. A module is one week or one topic.
  3. Pick a File category, then drop in your PDFs.
  4. Click Sync Files at the top of the page. A Sync Now banner may offer the same.

Sync means update what students see.

You're done when the Uploading Files card says Completed and the file sits under its module.

Required or Optional

Required is material students must complete to pass the course. Optional is extra material for students who want to go deeper. New files start as Required.

To change a file, click its category tag in the file's row and pick the other one. To change several, tick them and click Type.

Remove a file

Click the three dots on the file's row, then Delete. This cannot be undone. If you stay on the Files page, SLAN syncs on its own about 30 seconds later.

Which files work

The upload box lists PDF, Markdown, Text and Images. Use one of those. A PDF can be up to 32 MB.

After big changes

If you replaced many files, ask Sophia to redraft your frameworks. Sophia is SLAN's helper. A framework is one of your methods written step by step. Click Frameworks, then Update frameworks. Choose Let me choose to read only the new files.

Approve the new drafts, then sync again. Deploy your tutor if a box asks. Deploy means publish.

If it doesn't work: there is no Upload file button? Your course has no module yet. Click Create first module.
