Glossary
Every SLAN word in plain language, with where to find it in the app.
Course
Your course is the home for your files, frameworks, tutors and classes. Create one on the Courses tab in Creator Space.
Module
A module is one week or one topic of your course. You make one with Create first module on the Files tab.
Course files
Course files are the slides and readings your tutor reads before it answers. Upload them on the Files tab of your course.
Framework
A framework is a note about one topic, concept or decision you teach. It is written down so your tutor can walk a student through it the way you would. Find them on the Frameworks tab of your course.
Sophia
Sophia is SLAN's helper. She reads your files and drafts frameworks when you click Update frameworks.
Assistant
An assistant is the AI tutor your students chat with. Find yours on the Assistants tab of your course.
Single stage
A Single stage tutor follows one set of instructions in every chat. It suits questions and coaching, and it is the one to pick first.
Multi stage
A Multi stage tutor walks students through stages in order, like a case walkthrough. Build one after your Single stage tutor works: Multi stage assistants.
Preview
Preview is a chat where you try your tutor before students see it. Click Preview at the top of the tutor's page.
Deploy
Deploy publishes your latest saved tutor to your students. Click Deploy at the top right of the tutor's page.
Sync
Sync sends your latest files and changes to your tutors. When a banner says Your assistants are out of date, click Sync Now.
Cohort
A cohort is your class: the students, and the code they use to join. Create one on the Cohorts tab of your course. All your classes are on the Cohorts tab in Creator Space.
Registration code
A registration code is the join code students type when they sign up. Find it on your cohort under Registration Code.
Access level
An access level decides who can get in: Private, Registration Code or Public. Your course, tutor and cohort each have one. See Access levels.
Widget
A widget puts your tutor on a web page of your own. Make one on the Widgets tab of your course.
Conversation starters
Conversation Starters are the buttons students see when they open your tutor. Add one to five on the Conversation step.
Pending review
Pending review marks a framework draft that waits for your yes. Sophia's drafts and frameworks you build yourself both start here, and students only get what you approve.
Guest mode
Guest mode lets visitors chat with your tutor on a widget without signing in. It needs a Public tutor and a plan that includes it.
Stage
A stage is one step of a Multi stage tutor. Add stages by clicking Stages in the left menu of the tutor's page.
Final report
A final report is what a student ends a Multi stage chat with, like a valuation memo. You describe it under Final Report Definition.
